Extinguishers |
|
The Inspection & Maintenance which we carry out is strictly in accordance with British Standards 5306 Part 3
(Extinguishers), by trained engineers. Usally annually or as dictated within your fire risk assessment/fire
authority.In certain cases it can be agreed to Inspect & Maintain to agreed contractual requirements
as appropriate.
On our first visit we will endeavour to complete an asset schedule identifying, type, size, year of manufacture,
year of discharge required and location.
When required, extinguishers that need recharging will do so in accordance with British Standards 6643 Part 1.
Audits are carried out on all of our engineers to ensure a continuing standard of service is maintained
for all our customers.

Fire Alarm & Emergency Lighting |
|
Planned maintenance visits for the Fire Alarm System should be carried out on a four (4) monthly basis,
(or as per your risk assessment/fire authority dictates) at which time 25% of all field devices would be
tested in accordance with British Standard 5839 Part 1 2002.

These tests would be performed in addition to all control panel and system performance tests. Smoke and Heat
detectors would be cleaned on a rotating basis and call points checked.
The emergency lighting will be carried out in accordance with British Standard 5266 where during a one
year period a 3 hour battery drop test must be carried out with findings reported.

Sprinklers |
|
Planned maintenance visits are carried out at six (6) monthly intervals, (Or as dictated within your fire risk
assessment/Fire authority). On each visit we would endeavour to carry out the following in accordance with BS5306
Part 2 1990.
Inspect pipework, heads, hangers etc for leaks and corrosion, carry out bell test and record response time,
drain installation, strip down alarm valve, clear and reassemble, check drip union, refill installation,
carry out flow test where applicable, test jockey cap (if fitted), check that all valves are strapped &
padlocked where required and check number and condition of spare heads.

Risers & Hose Reels |
To pressure test the Risers & Hose Reels are maintained in accordance with BS5306 Part
1 1976 (1988). These are usually carried our annually.
When maintaining the Risers we perform a initial physical inspection, then check the valves, pipework, seals,
strap/padlock, earthing, cabinet locks, pressure test at inlet, pressure test at outlet, physical inspection
(under pressure) I) Pipework II) Valves, non return valves, drain down system and leave ready for use.
Hose Reels are run out fully to check for ware on the hose and opened to ensure flow of water. Once confirmed
we rewind the hose and confirm that the nozzle is secure and that any valves are operational. A pressure test
is then taken on the highest reel to ensure that all floors are with pressure.
